Confused about what Airbrush Tanning is?

Confused about what Airbrush Tanning is?

Spray tanning is accomplished by applying of a solution containing the active ingredient: DHA (Dihydroxyacetone). DHA is considered to be safe and has been FDA approved for cosmetic use. DHA is listed in the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) as a color additive for use in imparting color to the human body. However, its use in cosmetics – including sunless “tanning” products – is restricted to external application. According to the CFR, “externally applied” cosmetics are those “applied only to external parts of the body and not to the lips or any body surface covered by mucous membrane” (21 CFR 70.3v).
DHA reacts with the skin’s amino acids resulting in a “tan” similar looking to that of the sun. The darker your skin, the darker you can tan with a spray tan. However too much spray can result in an unnatural looking tan so be careful!
Before receiving a spray tan, your skin should be clean and free of deodorant, sweat, fragrances, lotions, and should be dry, exfoliated, and shaved. Shaving directly after your tan will remove a small amount of your tan.

Here’s what will happen during and after your appointment:
Before you enter the spray tan room you will be asked to change into a robe. What you wear in the room is up to you and your level of comfort. We do have disposable thong  bottoms for ladies and boxers for men. (We suggest men wear briefs to their appointment. Unfortunately we do do not spray men in the nude. Sorry guys).   If you choose to wear swimwear it is recommend that you wear old, DARK swimwear. The solution is water soluble so it will wash out of clothing but may stain lighter colored clothing.
You will then be airbrushed. This process will take approximately 10 minutes. Afterwards, the technician will ensure your skin has dried completely before putting your robe back on (please ensure you do not touch yourself while waiting for the technician to check you).  The solution will give you an immediate bronzing effect. The bronzing effect is a result of a coloring additive in the solution that will remain on the skin until your longer lasting tan develops. When you shower, the coloring will come off to reveal your actual tan beneath. We recommend showering 8 – 12 hours after the session, preferably letting the solution develop overnight. *Use darker sheets or towel to lay on if going to bed before showering.
Immediately following your tanning session: Wear dark loose fitting clothes (black sweats are best). DON’T perspire or get skin wet for at least 8-12 hours after tanning.
All people are different. All ingredients in the product used in this procedure are intended for cosmetic use and regarded as safe and natural. However there are occasions where individuals may be allergic to one or more ingredients in the spray tan solution.
Be advised we do NOT recommend being sprayed for photography sessions, modeling assignments, weddings, etc. unless you have had a trial spray tan before hand to ensure a desirable color result.

Be advised: due to the nature of rain, puddles, etc we can not guarantee your tanning results if it is raining the day of your tan.  If rain is predicted or you are concerned please call us at least 24 hours beforehand to reschedule your appointment.

Warning – This solution does NOT contain a sunscreen and will not protect against sunburn. Repeated exposure of unprotected skin may increase the risk of skin aging, skin cancer and other harmful effects to the skin even if you do not burn.
